It's name means 'God's town of the pans' - and when you see all the beautiful copper pans which have been, and are still, produced here you will know why. It is renowned for its Tuesday morning market too.

Auberge du Moulin, Brouains. www.aubergedumoulin.net/site/Despite the French only website, English is spoken and there is always a friendly welcome. Excellent cuisine and the lunch-time weekday menu is especially good value. This is also the site of an Eco Museum where you can also learn about the River See - one of the best salmon fishing rivers in France, and the former paper and cutlery industries.
